If you don't know HotelQuickly, you should definitely check this article.
Mr. H and i have this really bad--but fun--habit for wasting time strolling around the city just to find a place to hang out, only to end up at another McD or Starbucks joint. We always think that we'd go home around 12 am, but what usually happens is.. we look at each other in the eye and couldn't get enough of one another (at least not at the moment) so we decide to find a place to stay for the night.
The problem is that it's always already too late for us to make that decision. Booking a hotel for us to spend time until checkout (which is 12 pm) is not as easy as it sounds. Here's why:
- Most booking sites or apps (e.g. Traveloka, PegiPegi, Tiket, Bookings.com, Agoda) won't let you make booking for the date before. For example, it's 16th August, 2 am, and i'd like to stay in a hotel, and i want it like, NOW. Those sites will only open booking for 16th August, in which i can only check in at that day, BUT only at 12 pm. So where do you expect me to stay until that hour? Seven Eleven? And if you want to click on the date before, which is 15th August, you can't! Because the system cleverly greyed out previous dates already. They're faster then you, girl, so move along.
- Okay, so if booking sites/apps are not a good option, what about the good ol' booking a hotel room directly through the reservation desk? Well, that's a great idea--if only it's not 2 am in the morning and most of the hotels are already full. I just can't browse hotel numbers in Google and call them one by one to find an available room (which is 99.9% impossible, trust me). Plus, pricing is always an issue. If it's available but costs IDR 400k a night, i need to pass. It's either i'm a cheapskate or i just can't find the value in splurging that amount of money for less than 12 hours in some 3-star hotel.
It's always been me & Mr. H's problem but we usually managed to find a hotel with price that's still in our range--after deliberately utilising my browsing and calling skills. Mr. H is there giving moral support and getting his credit card ready. #RelationshipGoals
And then i found HotelQuickly, which claims as a "last-minute hotel booking app". As an avid last-minute hotel booker, i found myself tempted by that statement, even though at that time i wasn't sure of what that really implies. I mean, i never really LOVE booking sites/apps. They serve me well, but well, they're just not there when i need them the most--which is at 1 am or more.
